The tongue port bar has an especially flattened shape to the port. This gives the tongue optimum room. Many horses respond to this with improved suppleness and increased chewing. This bit is also very well suited to horses that play with their tongues, trying to get their tongue over the bit, as the port effectively prevents this. This mouthpiece is thus eminently suited to horses that do not tolerate traditionally shaped bits due to the pressure on the tongue and react by head-shaking or similar. The Tandem is to be used with one set of reins. It causes pressure on the horse‘s nose, the branches of the lower jaw and poll. Increasing the pull, a slight lifting effect of the bit is achieved. Suitable for horses that are too sensitive in the mouth for a bit alone, but can’t be ridden with just a Hackamore.
