Highly recommended for horses that are unsteady in the contact with the bit. Eggbutts are suitable for horses with sensitive corners on their mouths, as they prevent them from being pinched which can happen with loose ring snaffles. The characteristic features of these bits are the oval rings (resp. the D-Ring side parts) which are fixed to the mouthpiece, keeping the bit steady in the mouth, enabling direct and effective impact onto the tongue. The side parts also prevent the bit from being pulled through the mouth. The additional contact surface from the cheeks on the mouth corners supports guarding and sideways acting rein aids.
