How does the Emmers saddle fitting service work exactly?
For the purchase of a new or second-hand saddle, we recommend you to first visit our store in Hamont. That way our professional team of saddle experts can make a pre-selection of the saddles with you, based on your preferences and budget. We take the time to answer all your questions and provide you with the necessary advice and technical information. Moreover, you can already try the saddles on the saddle mate and we determine the correct seat size. Of course, in addition to your stature, the posture and build of your horse or pony is a greatly important factor too. The back, withers and shoulders play a major role. If you find this difficult to describe, you may always bring (digital) photos with you or e-mail them in advance. It is not necessary to make an appointment for your shop visit. There is always someone from our expert saddle team available to assist you.
During of after your visit to the shop, we book an appointment to come and fit the saddle on location. Our Master Saddler always starts by evaluating the horse. Then the saddles are put on one by one. The saddles that best fit the horse or pony are then tested by the rider. Mounting the saddle and riding is very imporantant to be able to evaluate the saddle in motion as well. All gaits of the horse can be tested. Show jumpers can possibly take a jump.

If you have doubts about the position of your current saddle, we can also perform a check-up. Never continue riding with an ill-fitting saddle. This can harm your horse's health and cause bigger problems. But how do you recognize the signals of a badly fitting saddle?

How does the check-up work exactly?
Our Saddler comes on site. First, the horse and your saddle are studied separately. Then the rider takes place in the saddle. This way, our Master Saddle Fitter can observe the riding style and the horse's reaction on the saddle. Problems can sometimes be solved with a few minor adjustments to the saddle. These small adjustments can be made during the appointment. For bigger adjustments and fillings we also have a professional repair service in our workshop, with a.o. a third generation saddle-maker.
