Beris Bits: Synthetic Mouthpieces Made in Germany | Emmers Equestrian
Beris is a German bit maker from Schleswig-Holstein, known for mouthpieces made of a food-safe plastic compound with a very smooth surface. The metal parts, from the rings to the cheekpieces, are shaped by hand, welded, and polished. Horses tend to chew more and accept the bit readily, which makes Beris a popular choice for sensitive horses, horses that dislike metal, and riders who want a gentle bit without giving up control.
Our Beris range covers loose rings and D-ring snaffles, short and long pelhams, Kimberwicks, 3-ring bits, and the Tandem combination bit. Choose between straight mullen bars, tongue ports, comfort bars, and the Konnex mouthpiece, mostly in soft or hard versions. Most bits are 18 mm thick and come in 12, 13, and 14 cm.

Frequently asked questions
What are Beris bits made of?
The mouthpieces are made of a food-safe synthetic material with a very smooth finish, while the rings and cheekpieces are stainless steel. The surface glides easily in the mouth, even for horses that produce little saliva.
What's the difference between soft and hard Beris bits?
It refers to the firmness of the synthetic mouthpiece. The soft version gives a little more and feels gentler, which suits very sensitive horses. The hard version is firmer and more durable, which suits horses that chew a lot or need a slightly clearer feel.
What is the Beris Konnex mouthpiece?
Konnex combines a ported bar with the characteristics of a butterfly bar. It has a slimmer profile and a clearly wider port, giving the horse more room in the mouth. It suits horses with little room in their mouth, such as thoroughbred types or older horses, horses with larger tongues, and horses that don’t tolerate pressure points on the tongue.
What is the Beris Tandem?
The Tandem combines a noseband action with a bit and is used with one set of reins. Pressure is spread evenly over the nose, lower jaw, and poll, which makes it suitable for horses that are very sensitive in the mouth but can’t be ridden in a hackamore alone.
