Dressage riding boots at Emmers Equestrian

Shop dressage riding boots from DeNiro at Emmers Equestrian. Order online with worldwide shipping, or visit one of our stores in Belgium and the Netherlands to try them on in person.

Dressage boots are tall riding boots with a stiff, straight shaft. The firm leather keeps your lower leg long and still, so you can give quiet, precise aids. The shaft is often higher on the outside of the leg, which gives a long, elegant line in the show ring.

DeNiro dressage boots

DeNiro makes riding boots in Italy, with fine leather and a wide choice of sizes. In our collection you will find:

  • DeNiro Bellini: A classic tall boot with a smooth, elegant finish. It is also available in brushed leather for a softer, more natural look.
  • DeNiro Puro Dress: A dressage boot with a stiff shaft and a clean, timeless design.
  • DeNiro Puro Dressage Patent with crystal logo: A dressage boot with a shiny patent top and crystal details, made for the show ring.
  • DeNiro Volta SL: A modern tall boot for riders who want a stylish dressage boot for training and competition.

How to find the right dressage boots

Pay attention to these points when you choose your boots:

  • Foot size: Our dressage boots come in foot sizes from 36 to 46, depending on the model.
  • Leg size: DeNiro boots come in many leg sizes. Each size combines a shaft height (from CC, the shortest, to A, the tallest) with a calf width (from XXXS to XXL). Measure your calf width and the height from the floor to the back of your knee, wearing riding breeches.
  • Height: New boots should come up high behind your knee. The leather will drop a little at the ankle as you ride them in.
  • Fit: Dressage boots should fit closely around the calf, but they should not pinch or stop your blood flow.
  • Style: Choose a classic smooth leather for training and competition, or patent leather and crystals for extra shine in the show ring.

Caring for your dressage boots

Wipe off sand and dust after every ride. Clean the leather with a leather cleaner and treat it regularly with a leather balm, so it stays soft and doesn’t crack. Store your boots with boot trees, and in a boot bag, to keep them in shape.

Frequently asked questions about Dressage Riding Boots

What is the difference between dressage boots and jumping boots?

Dressage boots have a stiff, straight shaft for a long leg and still aids. Jumping boots are softer and often have more flexibility at the ankle, so the rider can sit in a shorter stirrup and a forward seat.

How should dressage boots fit?

They should fit closely around your calf and come up high behind your knee. You should still be able to bend your knee and walk comfortably. New boots will drop a little at the ankle as you ride them in.

How long does it take to break in dressage boots?

It depends on the boot and the leather, but most boots need a few weeks of riding. Wear them for short rides at first, and treat the leather with a leather balm to help it soften.

What do the DeNiro leg sizes mean?

Each DeNiro leg size has two parts. The letters, such as C, MC, MA and A, show the shaft height. The second part, such as S, M or L, shows the calf width. This helps you find a boot that fits both the length and the width of your leg.

Can I wear dressage boots for competitions?

Yes, black tall boots are standard in dressage competitions. Patent leather tops and small decorations, such as crystal logos, are popular in the show ring. Always check the rules of your federation and class.
