Horseware Ireland Rugs: The Original Since 1985
Horseware Ireland was founded in 1985 by Tom and Carol MacGuinness, who set out to make a rug that didn’t leak, didn’t make the horse sweat and didn’t slip. The result was the Rambo Original, the first fully waterproof and breathable turnout that really worked, and the start of one of the most trusted rug brands in the world.
Today the collection is built around three ranges. Rambo is the premium, top-of-the-line range and Amigo offers the Horseware features at the most affordable price. Horseware rugs are still designed at the headquarters in Dundalk, Ireland, where the Rambo rugs are also still made.

Horseware Ireland is an Irish brand based in Dundalk, Ireland, founded in 1985 by Tom and Carol MacGuinness.
What is the difference between Rambo or Amigo?
Rambo is Horseware’s premium range, made for maximum durability and comfort. Amigo offers great quality and waterproofness at an affordable price.
Which Horseware range is best for my horse?
Choose Rambo if you want the most durable, long-lasting rug, for example for horses that are hard on their rugs. Amigo is a great choice for everyday use on a budget, and Rhino is a strong all-rounder in between.
What is the Rambo Original?
