Frequently asked questions
What are Feeling bits made of?
Most Feeling bits are made of stainless steel, which is durable, rust-resistant, and easy to clean. Some models have copper rollers or rubber-covered mouthpieces for horses that prefer a different feel.
Are Feeling bits good for everyday use?
Yes. Feeling bits are designed as reliable, affordable bits for daily training and riding. Because they’re easy on the budget, they’re also a practical way to test a new mouthpiece type before investing in a premium bit.
What’s the difference between a Waterford and a regular jointed bit?
A regular jointed bit has one or two joints, while a Waterford is made of several linked balls. This makes the Waterford very flexible and hard for the horse to lean on or grab, which helps with horses that get strong or heavy in the hand.
What size Feeling bit do I need?
Measure your horse’s mouth with a bit measure or a piece of string. A fixed-cheek bit should stick out about 0.5 cm on each side, and a loose ring slightly more. Most horses take 12.5 or 13.5 cm; ponies and cobs often need 11.5 cm or smaller.
