Wahl Clipper Blades for Horses | Emmers Equestrian

Wahl has been a leading name in clipping since 1919, and its blades are a big part of that reputation. A sharp, well-fitting blade is what separates a smooth, line-free clip from a coat full of tracks, and it keeps clipping comfortable for your horse. At Emmers Equestrian you will find Wahl clipper blades for body clipping, trimming and finishing, in cutting heights from 0.25 to 3 mm.

The range covers three blade types, each made for a different kind of Wahl clipper:

  • Prime Series snap-on blades: stainless steel blades that click on and off in seconds. Available as 40F (0.25 mm), 30F (0.5 mm), 10F and 10F wide (1.5 mm) and 9F (2 mm). The wide blade covers more coat per stroke, which saves time on a full body clip.
  • 5 in 1 clipper heads: five cutting lengths from 0.7 to 3 mm in one head, adjustable on the blade itself. Choose Fine, Coarse or the carbon-coated Diamond head, which is extra hard-wearing and builds up less heat.

Why choose Wahl clipper blades from Emmers Equestrian?

Frequently Asked Questions - Wahl Clipper Blades

Which Wahl blade fits my clipper?

That depends on the blade system. Prime Series snap-on blades fit Wahl KM clippers such as the KM Supera, 5 in 1 heads fit trimmers such as the Adelar Pro and Arco Pro, and A2 blade sets fit large body clippers such as the Star. Always check the product page or ask us if you are unsure.

What do the numbers on Wahl blades mean?

The number indicates the cutting height: the higher the number, the shorter the cut. A 9F leaves 2 mm of coat, a 10F leaves 1.5 mm, a 30F leaves 0.5 mm and a 40F leaves 0.25 mm.

Which Wahl blade is best for a full body clip?

For a full clip, most riders choose a cutting height between 1.5 and 3 mm. The 10F wide Prime Series blade or an A2 blade set is the most efficient choice, because both cover a large area per stroke.

What is the difference between the Fine, Coarse and Diamond 5 in 1 heads?

The Fine head has closely spaced teeth for a smooth finish on normal coats and detailed areas. The Coarse head has wider spacing to work through thick or dense coats, and the Diamond head adds a carbon coating that stays sharp longer and runs cooler.

How often should I oil my Wahl blades?

Oil the blades before you start and roughly every 10 to 15 minutes while clipping. Regular oiling reduces friction and heat, and it noticeably extends the life of the blade.

When should I sharpen or replace my blades?

Blades need attention when they start pulling the hair, leaving lines or getting hot quickly. You can bring them to one of our stores for our blade sharpening service, or replace them if they are damaged or worn.

Why do my clipper blades get hot?

Heat comes from friction, usually caused by too little oil, a dirty coat or dull blades. Clip a clean, dry coat, oil regularly and take short breaks or use a cooling spray to keep the blades comfortable on the skin.
