The Trust Sweet Iron 2.5 Eggbutt Eliptical is a milder version of the 3-ring (Pessoa) bit. It provides light leverage that increases the lower the reins are attached. This bit is suitable for horses that become strong during jumping, grab the bit, or pull through the rider’s hand. The fixed eggbutt rings offer a more direct response to rein aids.

The double-jointed elliptical mouthpiece has two hinge points and sits slightly looser in the mouth, distributing pressure across the tongue, bars, and corners. It creates more tongue pressure than a single-jointed bit and is considered a standard mouthpiece. Caution is advised for horses with narrow lower jaws, as the joints may press on the bars. The diameter of the bit is 16 mm.

Sweet Iron bits are made of blue steel that forms surface rust when exposed to air humidity. This rust has a mildly sweet taste and naturally stimulates salivation, helping the horse to accept the bit more easily.
