The Trust Sweet Iron 2.5 Ring Eliptical is a milder version of the 3-ring (Pessoa) bit. It provides light leverage that increases the lower the reins are attached. This bit is suitable for horses that become strong during jumping, grab the bit, or pull through the rider’s hand. Compared to the 2.5 ring eggbutt, the loose water snaffle rings allow for more movement in the bit and create a softer, more indirect response to the rider’s aids.

The double-jointed elliptical mouthpiece has two hinge points, sits loosely in the mouth, and distributes pressure across the tongue, bars, and corners. It applies more pressure on the tongue than a single-jointed bit. Caution is advised for horses with narrow lower jaws. The diameter of the bit is 16 mm.

Sweet Iron bits are made of blue steel that forms surface rust when exposed to air humidity. This rust has a mildly sweet taste and naturally stimulates salivation, helping the horse to accept the bit more easily.
