The Trust Sweet Iron Hanging Cheek Eliptical is a baucher-style bit with mild leverage. Small rings above the main cheek rings allow the cheek pieces to be attached higher, providing more stability and a light leverage effect in the horse's mouth.

The double-jointed elliptical mouthpiece has two hinge points, sits slightly looser in the mouth, and distributes pressure across the tongue, bars, and corners. It applies more pressure on the tongue than a single-jointed bit and is considered a standard design. Caution is advised for horses with narrow lower jaws, as the joints may press on the bars. The diameter of the bit is 16 mm.

Sweet Iron bits are made of blue steel that forms surface rust when exposed to air humidity. This rust has a mildly sweet taste and naturally stimulates salivation, which helps the horse accept the bit more easily. Over time, the bit changes color from blue to brown-grey due to oxidation.
