The Trust Sweet Iron Eggbutt Double Jointed is a standard cheekpiece. The rings do not move freely, which makes the aids more direct and keeps the bit relatively still in the mouth. In addition, the bit prevents the lips from being pinched, so bit guards are not necessary with this cheekpiece.

The double jointed mouthpiece has two pivot points, is more anatomically shaped to the mouth, and sits somewhat looser. This bit acts on the tongue, bars, and corners of the mouth. Caution is advised with narrow lower jaws, as the joints may press on the bars and cause sores. Compared to a single jointed bit, this mouthpiece exerts more pressure on the tongue. A double jointed mouthpiece is a standard choice.

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a characteristic blue color. When exposed to (air) moisture, Sweet Iron develops surface rust that tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the horse’s saliva production. This increases foaming and helps improve bit acceptance. This rusting (oxidation) process gradually changes the blue color of the TRUST bits to a brownish-grey.
