The Trust Sweet Iron Swivel Jointed features a beval cheekpiece with two connected half rings, providing more control than standard rings. The mouthpiece is fixed between the half rings, limiting its movement and providing more stability in the horse’s mouth. The reins can be attached to the large ring for downward pressure or to the lower half ring for mild leverage and better responsiveness.

The single-jointed mouthpiece has one hinge point, applying less pressure to the tongue compared to a double-jointed mouthpiece. It primarily acts on the bars, the sides of the tongue, and can also affect the palate. The diameter of the bit is 16 mm.

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a distinctive blue color. Upon contact with air humidity, the bit develops surface rust that tastes mildly sweet and naturally stimulates salivation, helping the horse accept the bit more easily. Over time, this rust process (oxidation) turns the blue color of the bit to brown-grey.
