Flexineb Equine Nebulisers: Silent, Portable Inhalation for Your Horse | Emmers Equestrian
The Flexineb E3 is a portable, silent equine nebuliser designed to deliver medication and natural therapies directly into your horse’s airways. Instead of feeding a product and waiting for it to work through the whole body, a nebuliser turns liquid into a very fine mist that your horse simply breathes in. That makes it a popular choice with vets, sport horse riders, and owners of horses with sensitive airways or equine asthma.
How the Flexineb E3 works
At the heart of the Flexineb is the medication cup, which contains a thin gold-plated metal mesh with thousands of tiny holes. When the mesh vibrates at high frequency, the liquid passes through and becomes a fine aerosol, with an average particle size of around 4 microns. Particles that small can travel deep into the small airways of the lungs, where they’re needed most. Because there’s no noisy compressor, the Flexineb E3 is completely silent, so most horses stay relaxed during treatment. It runs on a rechargeable battery with up to 6 hours of use per charge, so you can use it in the stable, in the lorry, or at a show without needing a power socket nearby. The controller tunes itself automatically for the best performance and switches off when the medication cup is empty.
What’s in our Flexineb range?
- Flexineb E3 Complete Set: everything you need to start, including the controller, rechargeable battery and charger, silicone mask, medication cup and extension cup, and a carrying case. Available in three mask sizes: Small (foal/pony), Standard (horse), and Large (large horse).
- Flexineb E3 Medication Cups: The medication cup is a replaceable part that lasts for roughly 150 treatments, depending on the product used and how well it’s cleaned. Keep a spare at hand so treatment is never interrupted.
- Flexineb Controller E3: a replacement controller unit for your existing system.
What can you nebulize?
The Flexineb is designed to deliver medication prescribed by your vet, such as bronchodilators and corticosteroids, as well as natural therapies and saline solution to moisten the airways. You can directly use our Sanequine range of Immuno San, Sano Stress, and Sano Red. Many medications need to be diluted before use, so always follow your vet’s instructions. Some products should never be used in the Flexineb because they can damage the metal mesh, so check the Flexineb medication guide before trying something new. You can also read our blog about how to clean your Flexineb here.
Getting the most out of your nebulizer
- Clean the medication cup after every use to keep the mesh working well and extend its life.
- Never use sharp objects or soak the cup in cleaning chemicals.
- Introduce the mask calmly.
- Most horses accept it quickly, but let your horse sniff and wear it for short periods first.
- Charge the battery when the indicator turns red to keep it in good condition.
- Combine nebulizing with a dust-free environment. Steaming hay with a hay steamer and using low-dust bedding and good stable ventilation all help your horse’s airways recover.

Frequently asked questions
Which Flexineb size do I need?
The Flexineb E3 comes in three mask sizes: Small for foals and ponies, Standard for most horses, and Large for large horses and warmbloods with a bigger muzzle. The size is based on the circumference of your horse’s muzzle, measured just above the nostrils. If you’re unsure, visit one of our stores, and we’ll help you choose.
How long does a Flexineb medication cup last?
A medication cup lasts for about 150 treatments on average, depending on the medication used and how well it’s cleaned. Cleaning the cup after every use is the best way to make it last.
Is the Flexineb really silent?
Yes. The Flexineb uses vibrating mesh technology instead of a compressor, so it makes no noise. That helps keep your horse calm and relaxed during treatment.
Can I use the Flexineb while my horse is walking?
Yes. Because it’s battery-powered and fixed to the horse’s head, you can use it while walking your horse in hand. Gentle movement encourages deeper breathing, which can help the mist reach further into the lungs.
Do I need a vet’s prescription to use a Flexineb?
You don’t need a prescription to buy the Flexineb itself, and you can use it with saline or natural therapies, like our Sanquine range. Medication, however, must always be prescribed by your vet, who will also tell you the correct dose and dilution.
How long does a nebulizing session take?
It depends on the amount of liquid and the medication, but most sessions take just a few minutes. The controller switches off automatically when the medication cup is empty.
